The circus.
The circus was an elongated enclosure with bleachers for the spectators, and with a track (sand) divided by a central wall (spins). The oldest and
most impressive circus in Rome was the Circus Maximus, which had a
Equestrian exhibitions, acrobatics on horseback performed by expertriders (desultory).
- Pedestrian races, in which for hours and hours the participants gave hundreds of laps to the circus track.
- Racing cars, which were the highlight of the games. The cars were pulled by two, three or four horses. Each race consisted of seven laps around the central spine.
The circus games also served to make bets of large sums of money, which
enriched some and ruined others.
The amphitheater is an oval construction that resembles two theaters united
. The Flavio Amphitheater, or Coliseum, the most emblematic building in
Rome, was inaugurated in the year 80 AD. C., and had a capacity for
50,000 spectators
